Micro-festival pour les plantes, 2015The APCd Foundation for Contemporary Art opened its doors in June 2015 at the former production site in Ilford (Marly, Switzerland). On this occasion, the trio that composes the artistic management team (Marinka Limat, Thomas Lehner and Martial Mingam) creates an ephemeral collective under the name of MTM. The inaugural exhibition “Out of the track” is an opportunity to develop different interventions based on the specificity of the place.
Above the chemical industry’s former sewage treatment plant for film photography (Ilford), fifty-four pots are suspended to grow plants. To accompany their development, the MTM trio imagines a musical micro-festival for plants (Al Comet, Feldermelder, Mikonos, Sébastien Piery and many others will be invited for several weeks to produce sessions ranging from 5 min to 45 minutes, exclusively for plants).
Through this absurd gesture, close to a dada attitude, the collective seeks to raise public awareness about the notion of anthropocene: “The idea is to see how weeds and flowers can develop in an area that was highly toxic. We will resume the old adage of gardeners which consists in talking and singing to plants to stimulate their growth” (extract from La Liberté, June 16, 2015).
Exhibition “Off-piste”, from June 18 to September 19, 2015.
