Insubordination, 2023

Based on a visual proposal from an image generator (Dall.e - prompt: Lake Leman and mountains), the photographic act here consists in getting to the site, looking for the closest angle of view in comparison to the image from "Machine learning", and to produce a photograph intended to rectify certain details from the physical experience of the place.

For “Insubordination II”, photographic collage brings a partial correction on the profiling of mountain ridges on the shores of the Franco-Swiss lake. The process, like its title, plays with a certain absurdity in the confrontation of the two scenes to highlight a new dimension between the image and its referent. In a context that redesigns the contours of visual creation in a policy of generalized remix, photography is once again plagued by questioning its own modalities of representation, even if they by nature potentially moving.

This project is originally designed for a carte blanche granted by the Musée d’Art de Pully to the photographers of the association Near to present recent works in echo of the themes of Lake Geneva and the Orient, in resonance with the main exhibition “Auguste Veillon. Travels on the water.” (10.03.2023 - 18.06.2023)
